Steamy and Stormy Start to the Work Week
It's going to be a muggy Monday! We will be flirting with record highs today as we rise into the upper 80s. The current record for this date is 91 degrees set back in 1977. Hot and humid conditions continue over the next few days.
SUNRISE: 6:07 AM
Most of Southeast Michigan is under a marginal risk for severe storms today. Showers and thunderstorms develop this afternoon after 2pm. Pop-up storms are possible through the afternoon and early evening with a better chance for strong to severe storms after 10pm. Brief heavy downpours, gusty winds and small hail are the main concerns today. The threats specifically include wind gusts up to 50 mph and hail up to one inch in diameter.
SUNSET: 8:53 PM
Additional sub-severe storms are possible Tuesday afternoon followed by a line of strong to severe storms late Tuesday night which poses the greatest threat for 60 mph gusts. We get another chance for showers and storms early Wednesday before a cooler and less humid airmass arrives for the rest of the workweek.
Nationally, the threat for severe weather continues over the central U.S. into midweek. Cool conditions with shower and storm chances are forecasted from the Rockies to the Pacific Northwest. Meanwhile, well above average, summer-like temperatures to start the week across much of the central/eastern U.S.
